With our mission to serve our communities and give back it seemed only natural that we start making daily choices that make a difference. Together we all have the opportunity at Greystar to create a better, more sustainable future through the decisions we make today. We encourage our employees to begin integrating eco-friendly practices at properties, offices and within the community. To increase employee awareness we participate in national, regional and community events such as Earth Hour and Earth Day.

Not just Green Words, but Green Actions

  • ACTION: Sherwin Williams is now providing Greystar with Low Voc Paint & Ultra Low Voc Paint.
  • ACTION: Greystar is currently buying 26.4% of office supplies in the recycled category from Office Depot. Greystar is also part of a pilot program with Office Depot to test environmentally friendly alternatives to shipping cartons.
  • ACTION: HD Supply has a green product line that Greystar communities can utilize. Greystar is currently utilizing 7% of the 25% available green products from HD Supply.
  • ACTION: Redi Carpet provides Greystar with eco-friendly carpet selections.
  • ACTION: The Greystar Procurement team recently announced a national partnership with Valet Waste to provide waste management and green solutions for recycling services.
  • ACTION: The Greystar Accounting team is rolling out an electronic invoicing (Ops Technology) and expense system (Expense Anywhere) to significantly reduce paper utilization.
  • ACTION: Many of Greystar offices are utilizing e-fax and we are encouraging more to work through this type of paperless system.
  • ACTION: Greystar can provide owners with feedback and costs to retrofit their communities as necessary.
  • ACTION: Greystar can evaluate property water usage and irrigation systems to see if there is any potential water savings available.
  • ACTION: Greystar’s IT Department is working with HOVI to implement a program to recycle electronics.
  • ACTION: Greystar regularly solicits proposals from solar energy contractors.
  • ACTION: Greystar is reviewing green flushers and faucets to assist with saving money and reducing water consumption.
  • ACTION: Greystar is also piloting a paperless leasing process with Blue Moon Software.
  • ACTION: Greystar is working with GE on a sustainability initiative using the Energy Star Program.
